All Green Jackets, especially those who served in the 1st and 3rd Battalions, (1 RGJ Celle 1970-1974; 3 RGJ Celle 1968-1970 & 1982-1987) will wish to be aware that the “Final British Forces Farewell to Celle” is coming up at the beginning of July.
The current resident battalion in Celle, 2RRF, are running with this, with a parade to be held in the Stadt on 6th Jul. The week before there will be a British-German theme on the streets of Celle, and on Thu 5th Jul a British Military Band is holding a Charity Concert in the French Gardens in the evening.
This is of course very much a Fusilier occasion as they are switching off the lights in Trenchard Barracks but there are fellow Riflemen out there who are now resident in the Celle area or in other parts of Germany who might like to take the opportunity of visiting Celle at that time and which was a Royal Green Jackets home for close on 15 years of our existence.
